Steadily into Somerset; the first 200 miles
We skirted the fringe of Dartmoor, past the highest pub and then some beautiful wooded valleys to the bunkhouse of the Drew Arms at Drewsteignton - village England! Goodbye to Tim - thanks for coming along! - and then, still with Chris, into the 'Devon Heartlands', less hilly, bigger fields, but some lovely old tracks and pretty village churches. A night at the New Inn, Coleford and then on again through Crediton. Detained by a wondrous pub - the Engine House Inn at Newton St Cyres station - and late to camp there- too late for tea! And goodbye to Chris - good walking, good chat! - who left on the early train. My first wet morning -not bad after 15 days on the trail - and wet afternoon, up the Exe valley to Tiverton. Comfortable B and B and then yesterday LEVEL walking on the Grand Western Canal to Richard's welcoming house at Wellington. The seriously good news is that my left and right calfs are now the same size again - amazing what a bit of flatness can do. Day of sorting out and washing today. Have updated the 'Where I am' page for slight changes of route and who's coming along. Still a long way to Cape Wrath!About 215 miles in 15 walking days from Cape Cornwall (230 miles in 16 days from my start at Porthcurno)
